About Me

From a young age, I've always been drawn to the arts. Photography, for me, was a natural extension of that – a way to capture those fleeting, priceless moments that deserved to be remembered. Growing up on a farm, rural life wasn't just a subject; it was my everyday. And seeing the often negative portrayal of farming in the media, I felt compelled to show the real story – the hard work, the beauty, and the authentic spirit of it all.

My approach is simple: documentary and authentic. I believe in capturing the truth of the moment, the raw energy of life on the farm. You could say my style is 'click and burst' – you've got to be quick, because those moments don't wait around! I use a Nikon D7200 with a range of lenses, and my trusty Google Pixel 8 Pro, to capture the action as it unfolds.

I'm always learning and refining my skills. I've completed numerous online photography courses, including the Open University's TC089, and I was thrilled to be awarded Best Beginner in both the PDI and Print sections at the Dumfries Camera Club in 2024.

Living and working in Crawford, South Lanarkshire, I'm immersed in the world I photograph. It's not just a job; it's a way of life. There's a certain rhythm to farming, a connection to the land that you just can't fake. And I think that comes through in my images.

I remember one particular day, the light was just perfect – golden and soft, highlighting the sheep as they moved across the field. My dog, always by my side, was a blur of energy, herding them with such precision. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated rural life, and I knew I had to capture it. Those are the moments I live for.

If you're looking for authentic, energetic photography that tells the real story of rural life, I'd love to hear from you. Please take a look at my portfolio, and if you like what you see, feel free to get in touch. Let's capture your story together.
